The Agricultural Equipment Operator / Field Preparation Worker will assist with preparing and maintaining agricultural land for soybean and corn production. The position includes operating agricultural machinery and performing manual agricultural labor to prepare soil, clear land, manage drainage and water flow, and support general farming operations. All work performed is directly related to agricultural production and farm field preparation. Workers will operate agricultural machinery to prepare soil for farming, including tilling, grading, and land conditioning. Workers will prepare and maintain fields for soybean and corn production; operate tractors, skid steers, and excavators for agricultural land preparation, drainage, and field maintenance; clear agricultural land by cutting brush, mowing, and removing small trees and stumps; assist with ditch work, including digging, cleaning, and maintaining agricultural drainage ditches; assist with irrigation and water management, including moving water to and from fields; perform general farming and field maintenance tasks as needed; use hand tools and power tools related to agricultural field preparation; and follow all safety rules, procedures, and employer instructions. The work is outdoor agricultural work performed in varied weather conditions. The job requires frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, and kneeling. Workers must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive, physically demanding farm labor. No minimum education is required. Experience operating farm machinery is preferred but not required; training will be provided. Workers must be able to perform physically demanding agricultural labor, work extended hours during peak agricultural periods, and understand and follow simple work instructions. Beginning and ending times will vary depending on the season, weather conditions, and workload. The job may require extensive sitting while operating tractors or other farm equipment, exposure to dirt, mud, and outdoor field conditions, pushing, pulling, and basic mechanical ability. This is a drug- and alcohol-free work zone. After hire, workers may be required to take a random drug test at no cost to the worker. Workers must be able to obtain a valid Class C driver’s license within 30 days of hire to drive employer-provided transportation between worker housing, assigned farm fields, and farm sites.
