- Offer description:
Workers will perform assigned duties as described in this clearance order, workers perform routine manual labor to harvest pumpkins, squash, and gourds. Workers walk through field rows, look for simple visual cues such as color and size to find ripe product, and use basic hand tools like shears or knives to cut the product from the vine, taking care to leave the stem attached without breaking it. Workers lift and transfer the harvested product—weighing from 2 pounds up to 60 pounds—either by hand-to-hand tossing ("pitching") to teammates or by placing them directly into field bins, trailers, or transport vehicles. Vehicles are moved to the on-farm packing house where workers follow instructions to manually unload the product onto conveyor belts or sorting tables. Workers sort the items by basic size and color, wipe down or clean the product, and set aside clearly damaged or rotted items. Workers apply labels and pack the product into bulk bins or boxes, counting or weighing items as directed. Beyond primary harvest duties, workers perform general field clean-up and routine maintenance under supervision. This includes picking up vines, debris, and discarded fruit, cleaning up fence lines, and assisting with simple irrigation pipe repairs. Daily tasks also include basic cleaning of packing floors, sorting belts, and restrooms, as well as assembling cardboard boxes and moving wooden pallets to help the team maintain food safety and clean work areas. Some workers may be required to possess a valid CDL if they are responsible for transporting workers from housing to the work sites, and driving of farm equipment and other vehicles may be required on the farm only. The employer will verify the validity of the driver's license prior to the start of driving duties. All hours spent driving will be paid at the applicable hourly rate. Workers must be able to perform strenuous manual labor outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, humidity, wind, and rain, for the total hours offered in the work contract. Duties require physical strength and stamina to walk, bend, stoop, kneel, lift, carry, reach, and stand for prolonged periods. Workers must possess sufficient manual dexterity to repetitively and efficiently use their hands and arms while maintaining a continuous workflow. The employer will provide, at no cost to the worker, all tools, supplies, equipment, and personal protective equipment required to perform the assigned duties. Consistent with applicable law, the employer may recover the reasonable cost of repairing or replacing tools or equipment damaged through a worker's willful misconduct or gross negligence, provided any such deduction is authorized in writing by the employee after the damage occurs and does not reduce wages below any applicable minimum wage requirement. At the employer's sole discretion, workers may receive compensation above the offered wage rate based on individual performance, productivity, tenure, or other lawful factors. Such discretionary increases do not create additional minimum qualifications for employment and do not modify the terms and conditions of employment stated in this clearance order.
