Job Description (SOC 45-2093) Workers will care for agricultural livestock and handle the manual cultivation, planting, weeding, and harvesting of diversified vegetable crops grown on the farm property, specifically including tomatoes, peppers, squash, cucumbers, corn, leafy greens, onions, and garlic. Worker will perform duties related to the husbandry, care, and management of livestock and poultry, alongside seasonal crop production. Duties include: Attending to and caring for farm animals including dairy heifers, horses, sheep, goats, and poultry. Daily tasks include feeding, watering, grooming (including washing horses), and monitoring animal health and behavior. Collecting, cleaning, and storing eggs from poultry; monitoring for heat detection and assisting in the care of young animals (babies); and administering routine medications. Moving livestock between grazing areas in a pasture-based system; mixing and transporting feed; cleaning and disinfecting stalls, pens, and animal enclosures to maintain sanitary conditions; and repairing and maintaining fences, barns, and farm grounds. Planting, cultivating, and harvesting forage and vegetable crops; preparing fields and maintaining irrigation systems. Operating and performing routine maintenance on farm equipment including tractors, skid loaders, manure spreaders, mowers, and harvesting equipment. Workers will haul and apply manure, load/unload crops and feed, and drive employer-provided vehicles to various farm worksites. Additional Information: Duties are performed under general supervision. Employer will provide 2 days of hands-on training on specific job duties, animal handling safety, and heat stress prevention.
