- Offer description:
We are a farm where we grow potatoes, sugar beets, wheat, soybeans and a few cattle. In addition to growing the crops and raising cattle, we store, wash, package and ship our potatoes. We are looking for help for the harvest, packaging, shipping, the planting of our potatoes and other duties that may come with any of our crops. In the fall employees may be driving truck (mostly tri-axle straight trucks with automatic transmissions less than 26,000 lbs), unloading, cleaning, and putting the potatoes into storage. This includes some mechanical knowledge to be able to change bearings, shafts, gearboxes, etc. when necessary. May be required to operate a skid steer, fork lift, mow grass and dump dirt trucks. Preparing bins for long-term winter storage. Pressure washing equipment for end of harvest storage. During the packing season which begins right after harvest, employees will do grading, bagging, and stacking the bags. We pack consumer sizes, 50 lbs. bags and 2200 lbs. totes or mini bulk bags. Must be able to lift and stack 50 lbs.(23kg) bags. This also includes overseeing and maintaining packaging and wash plant equipment during the season. Some mechanical knowledge is preferred for fixing when there are break downs. As bins are emptied there may be cleaning and sanitizing of the bins for the next crop. In the spring employees will need to assist with the planting season which includes cutting seed, running skid steer, delivering cut seed to the field. We finish planting in June and then do not need further assistance until the fall harvest. No commercial trucking is required The employer, at its sole discretion, may grant pay increases based on factors such as performance, longevity, and/or experience. Employer may also, at its sole discretion, offer performance-based incentive bonuses that are not guaranteed and are determined by the employer. Workers returning for a consecutive season will be paid at the previous season’s rate if that rate exceeds the current published rate.
