Cultivation and Harvesting of Plantains, Papaya, Peppers, Melons, Cucumbers, Pumpkins, Eggplants, and Ají Peppers At our farm, we specialize in the cultivation and harvesting of plantains, papaya, peppers, melons, cucumbers, pumpkins, eggplants, and ají peppers from August through May. This production period allows us to meet market demand throughout the late summer, fall, winter, and spring seasons. We are committed to maintaining the highest quality standards while providing a safe, productive, and efficient work environment for all employees. Primary Responsibilities Farm workers will be responsible for: * Preparing the soil for planting. * Planting, cultivating, maintaining, and harvesting crops. * Performing mechanical and chemical weed control activities. Training on the safe handling and application of agrochemicals will be provided to all employees. * Handling post-harvest activities in the field, including sorting, packing, loading, and transporting agricultural products. * Working outdoors and moving between fields throughout the workday (long distances). * Performing other agricultural duties related to the cultivation and harvesting of crops as assigned. Physical Requirements This position requires physical stamina and flexibility. Workers must be able to: * Stand, walk (including on uneven terrain and slopes), squat, kneel, crouch, and bend at the waist for extended periods. * Push, pull, reach, lift, and carry items weighing between 5 and 75 pounds. * Use hand tools and operate farm vehicles and equipment, if assigned and properly trained. * Work in varying weather conditions, including heat, humidity, rain, and direct sunlight. Work Schedule and Conditions * Work schedules are determined by crop maturity, weather conditions, and operational needs. * Workers may be offered, but are not required to work, up to 10 hours per day, including Saturdays and Federal Holidays, depending on agricultural needs. * Overtime, when applicable, will be compensated in accordance with federal and state laws. * Supervisors will communicate any schedule changes at the end of each workday. Attendance and Conduct Expectations * Regular attendance during scheduled work hours is required. * Repeated tardiness, excessive absenteeism, unauthorized early departures, or performing work outside the scope of authorized H-2A employment may result in disciplinary action. * If a worker is unable to report to work, he or she must notify the supervisor as soon as possible, preferably at least one day in advance when circumstances permit. * Employees are expected to follow all farm safety rules, work procedures, and company policies.
