- Offer description:
Assist in the seasonal operation of a cotton gin that processes seed cotton immediately following harvest to prevent deterioration of fiber quality and loss of market value. Tend and observe cotton ginning equipment to ensure the safe, proper, and efficient handling of harvested agricultural commodities. Operate agricultural and gin-related equipment used in post-harvest handling, including but not limited to module feeders, bale presses, bale hoists, forklifts, and skid steer loaders, for the purpose of moving and processing harvested cotton from farms. Load harvested cotton modules delivered from farms into feeders and assist in the continuous flow of cotton from field to first market processing stage. Assist in the baling of cotton, including feeding wire, operating baling presses, and preparing lint cotton bales and cottonseed for storage and transport to market. Tie, tag, bag, and secure cotton bales and mote bales as part of the initial preparation of the agricultural commodity for sale and distribution. Remove cotton samples for classification and quality inspection as part of the first market preparation process. Use hoisting and loading equipment to move and load cotton bales and byproducts onto trucks for transport to warehouses or market channels. Assist in maintaining the uninterrupted flow of harvested cotton by clearing blockages, cleaning lint filters, sweeping, and removing accumulated cotton debris, all of which are necessary to prevent spoilage and ensure proper handling of the crop. Perform general support duties including furnishing tools, holding materials, and assisting more skilled workers in the repair and maintenance of agricultural and ginning equipment used exclusively during the harvest season. Clean and maintain work areas, machinery, and tools used in the handling and processing of raw agricultural commodities. Drive to town on occasion to pick up supplies. No CDL Required and no commercial truck driving required. Farming with: Cotton.
