*All packing and stacking duties will be performed in the field and on the farm* Workers will harvest table grapes by hand. Workers will perform hand harvest and table grapes in plastic bags (in the field). Hand-harvesting is performed using knives, clippers and/or shears. Workers cut the bunches at the stem. After whole bunches are cut, workers place them in collection/picking baskets/lugs and transfer them to the worker placing the grapes in plastic bags. The picker trims the ripe clusters leaving those that are not ripe behind. Workers push a loaded wheelbarrow across uneven and soft terrain. The harvested table grapes are placed in plastic bags in the field. Workers must be able to recognize harvestable fruit based on visible characteristics such as color, size, and general appearance. Workers must be able to distinguish basic color variations of grapes under normal field conditions. Workers will pack and stack boxes (in the field). Workers may also perform general grape labor. Packers and Pickers: Ability to follow daily instructions and training. Ability to use hand clippers throughout the workday. Ability to move wheelbarrows loaded with picking trays. Ability to perform harvesting and packing duties while maintaining quality standards. Ability to identify acceptable bunches and berry size. Ability to lift, carry, and stack empty and full boxes weighing up to 25 lbs. Ability to safely climb onto and off trailers 2.5-3 feet high. Ability to pack boxes neatly and cleanly. Ability to use scales and verify product weight. Ability to work cooperatively with supervisors and co-workers. Ability to work outdoors in hot and humid weather conditions. Ability to perform work while standing for extended periods. Must review and sign all required Grapery training materials. Crew leads: Good organizational skills. Must be willing to participate in training. Ability to communicate with management throughout the workday. Must be responsible for completing paperwork and/or using electronic devices such as tablets, and ensuring all documentation is submitted daily. Ability to read, write, and perform basic counting functions. Good vision and ability to read measuring devices, including refractometers. Ability to adapt to changes in daily work assignments and operations. Ability to follow instructions from supervisors and management personnel. Ability to follow instructions from Quality Control and Efficiency Managers. Ability to maintain a clean and organized work environment. Ability to maintain a professional attitude while working under pressure. Must ensure Grapery training materials are properly completed and that workers receive required training. All hand-related harvesting will be in accordance with California law. Van Driver Specifications: Employees will drive a minority of the work hours in this contract. (i.e. approximately 1-2 hours per day). At the end of the contract, drivers will have driven less than 50% of the total work hours, and thus, less than 50% of the total work days. Consequently, driving is not a primary job duty in this job order. Employees may drive Van over the road. Employees pick up workers from different housing sites/pick up points and take them to an assigned work site and at the end of the workday takes them back to the housing site/pick up point. Employees will also work in the assigned crew. In order to drive a Van, Employees must possess a valid drivers’ license (state issued) and must be able to pass Class B Physical exam and register as an FLCE driver.
