Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. The employer will provide the tools necessary to perform the described job duties without charge to the worker. Seed Sorters- visual evaluation of defective ears of corn based on product color, size, and extent of damage. Defective ears will be manually removed from the processing line by the worker. Dryer Bin Fill- operate conveyor controls to fill dryer bins. Need ability to estimate bin depths and update supervisor. Clean dry roof as needed. Dryer Runners- ability to start/stop dryer bins, sample bins, and reverse bins. Husker Operation- operate huskers to ensure husks are being removed. Need ability to monitor equipment to ensure proper operation. Clean husking area as needed. Receiving/Unloading Trucks/Sampling- operate conveyors to feed the husk/sort building. Scan load tickets in, pull samples, and clean as needed. Shelling- unload dryer bins and clean bins after unloading. Cleaning around conveyors and in the sheller area. Cob/dust operators will monitor filling cob trucks and dust communicate with drivers. Warehouse- ability to operate forklift and able to put load together in the warehouse. Ability to fix and repair pallets. Ability to build and band Tri-Wall boxes. General Housekeeping- to prepare the warehouse for harvest, the worker will paint, rake, sweep, and perform general housekeeping tasks. The worker may also wash buses and other work equipment at the end of the season. In order to perform these types of activities, the worker must be able to work outside for at least eight hours a day in all types of weather and have the requisite strength and endurance, working quickly and skillfully with their hands. Three months experience in this type of work is required. Workers may volunteer to work additional hours when work is available. The type of work involves working conditions that require tremendous stamina and a high level of physical activity in cold or extremely hot conditions in direct sunlight and in adverse weather such as rain or snow. Due to the type of physical conditioning needed, there is a probationary period of five days beginning with the first day of employment to show possession of the required endurance to perform this type of work. The site will have varying shifts. This could be 8 hour shifts, working 6 days per week; or 12 hour shifts working 3 to 4 days per week.
