Worker will be required to complete the following activities as directed by employer or supervisor without close supervision: general greenhouse and nursery work including seeding, watering, tagging, spacing, moving plants, filling flats/pots/baskets, cutting flowers, and maintaining growing areas; assemble, set up, and repair greenhouse spaces and tunnels, including replacing coverings; mechanical and hand planting, transplanting, cultivating, weeding, trimming, staking, pruning, strawing, and bed forming for a variety of vegetables, fruits, herbs, bedding plants, perennials, and greenhouse crops; hand harvest crops to quality standards in fields and greenhouses; perform various manual tasks associated with the planting, cultivating, harvesting, and field-packing of holiday greenery, evergreens, and related agricultural specialty crops; install, maintain, repair, and remove irrigation and drainage systems, including laying and disposing of drip tape, sprinklers, valves, headers, and plastic mulch; construct/maintain trellises and animal fencing; perform general farm infrastructure and clean-up tasks including removing debris, rocks, and trash from buildings, greenhouses, and work areas; perform seasonal on-farm poultry care and egg production duties including hand-collecting eggs from coops and nesting boxes, manually provide feed and water, move birds between seasonal shelters and pastured areas; manage flock safety during hot weather, and perform minor repairs on coops, protective fencing, and predator netting; safely operate and perform basic servicing on farm equipment and vehicles independently, including tractors, skid steers, forklifts, and utility vehicles with implements to transport, pull, push, till, chop, or haul crops, supplies, tools, or workers; occasionally apply pesticides under direction and in accordance with safety requirements; assist with post-harvest handling including washing, sorting, grading, packing, loading/unloading produce, and assembling/repairing boxes, bins, and pallets; lift and carry items weighing up to 60 pounds; deliver produce and set up tables at markets; clean and sanitize tools, equipment, and containers to strict safety and sanitation standards; and, if eligible under Michigan law, drive employer-provided vehicles to transport workers, wagons, tools, or products between housing, fields, markets, and work locations. Pay will be hourly rate, with piece-rate incentives available for specific tasks.
