- Offer description:
Perform agricultural field and orchard work related to irrigation, vegetable production, chili harvesting, and pecan harvesting. The worker will maintain and operate irrigation systems from April through October, including dewatering fields, cleaning and maintaining irrigation ditches, irrigating approximately 300 acres of farmland, performing weed control throughout the property, and assisting with servicing and maintaining irrigation wells to keep them operational. Beginning in April, the worker will assist with planting vegetables, picking vegetation, and harvesting chili. The worker will hand pick green and red chili peppers, place them into buckets, sack red chili through September, dry red chili through October, and assist with weighing and pricing chili through December. The worker will also transport harvested produce back to farm facilities. From January through March, the worker will harvest pecans. During the pecan season, the worker will assist with preparing orchard floors by raking and ensuring pecans are collected prior to mechanical harvesting. The worker will maintain trailers used for pecan transport, keep track of trailers assigned to orchard fields, and transport pecan trailers to and from the fields and farm facilities. The worker will also perform quality control and quality assurance tasks related to pecan harvesting. From March through April, and sometimes into May, the worker will remove broken branches from orchard fields, trim trees, remove additional branches, clean orchard fields, clean field ditches, and burn collected branches as needed. The worker will perform general field and orchard maintenance, including cleaning fields, maintaining work areas, and assisting with upkeep of the personal home yard located on the farm. Duties may vary depending on crop conditions, weather, and seasonal needs. Work is performed outdoors in variable weather conditions and may require extended hours during peak agricultural periods.
