Duties may include: Workers will perform a variety of agricultural duties in greenhouse production of strawberries, tomatoes, and cucumbers. Duties may vary depending on crop type and stage of production but generally include, planting, transplanting, pruning, training of plants (including clipping, suckering, twisting, and lowering of vine crops), and de-leafing. Monitoring crops for pests and diseases and assisting with integrated pest management, including the safe application of pesticides and other crop protection materials using hand or mechanical sprayers, in accordance with EPA Worker Protection Standards. Harvesting, sorting, grading, and packing produce for shipment. Assisting with greenhouse sanitation, plant removal, and end-of-season clean-up. Operation of agricultural equipment directly related to planting, cultivation, irrigation, or harvest. Performing minor and routine maintenance or adjustments on greenhouse and agricultural equipment incidental to the agricultural work & other related Farmworkers and Laborers, Crop, Nursery, and Greenhouse activities as per SOC/OES 45-2092 (onetonline.org). Crops: tomatoes, strawberries, cucumbers Possible weekend/holiday work. The employer may choose to pay experienced workers, regardless of origin, more than the published minimum wage rate. The purpose for performance bonuses (piece rate) is to reward employees for good performance. Employees will never make less than their hourly rate. Each week the activates are accessed to determine the rates. Rates vary based on plant growth, new fruits, vegetation on plants, different strategies, and production. In order to qualify for performance bonuses employees must first meet the quality standard. Quality is checked each week and if the employee does not meet the standard, they will not qualify for performance bonus for the upcoming pay period.
