Worker will perform manual labor to establish, maintain, and clear orchards and vineyards, including planting, cultivating, pruning, training, thinning, and harvesting apple, cherry, and grape crops. Duties include planting trees by hand and machine; placing graft unions at proper height; compacting soil; aligning trees; installing and maintaining trellis systems by clipping, tying, and positioning limbs and vines from the ground, ladders up to 16 feet, or motorized platforms; installing and maintaining irrigation systems; applying mulch, fertilizing, weeding, hoeing, and painting trunks. Worker will prune and thin trees and vines according to established procedures, including identifying and removing dead, damaged, or improperly growing wood, and performing de-leafing, tucking, and tying. Worker will harvest fruit according to grade, size, and color standards, placing apples (up to 50 lbs.) and grapes (up to 20 lbs.) into appropriate containers, using care to avoid damage and using stem clippers when required; worker may sort harvested product. Worker will perform orchard and field sanitation, including removing rocks, roots, trees, wires, posts, and debris, assisting with tree removal, and loading, carrying, and transporting materials. Worker will install, maintain, and repair trellis and orchard structures and may repair bins using hand and power tools. Worker may operate agricultural equipment, including tractors, forklifts, harvest platforms, and mechanical harvesters, and assist with transporting crops and equipment maintenance; employer will provide training. Worker must follow all quality standards and may perform additional duties such as wildlife deterrence, irrigation handling, and general farm cleanup as assigned. Worker must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds repeatedly and up to 75 pounds with assistance, perform prolonged standing, walking, bending, stooping, and climbing ladders up to 16 feet, and work in varying weather and terrain. All work will be paid on an hourly basis. Other duties assigned under this order will be consistent under Bureau of Labor Statistics Standard Occupational Classification: Farmworkers and Laborers, Crop, Nursery and Greenhouse Workers (45-2092). Pay will be hourly.
