Crops: Cucumbers, Cabbages, Ginseng Picking Stones: Workers will hand-pick stones to be removed from fields. Weeding: Workers will hand-pull weeds competing with crops and will dispose of weeds according to instructions given by their supervisor. Hoeing: Workers may work through crops using hoes. Workers shall not damage crops with tools. Harvest – Cucumbers: Workers will hand-pick cucumbers. They will collect and sort the correct produce sizes based on supervisor's indication. Harvest – Cabbage: Workers will hand-cut, trim, and pack cabbage heads into bins or crates according to supervisor instruction, taking care not to bruise or damage the product. Harvest - Ginseng: Workers will harvest ginseng in accordance with the supervisor’s instructions, taking care to not damage the product. Workers will also debud and remove/repair shade cloths in gardens. Sorting and Grading (All Crops): Workers will sort and grade cucumbers, cabbage, and ginseng by size, color, shape, weight, appearance, and overall quality according to standards set by the supervisor. Duties include standing at sorting tables or conveyor lines; removing debris, damaged, diseased, or otherwise unacceptable product; placing acceptable product into containers by grade; weighing crop-filled containers and recording weights and other identifying information; and loading and unloading containers using hand tools, hand trucks, or forklifts. Work is fast-paced and workers must be able to make quick judgment calls regarding product quality. Stations must be manned from the time the first product is unloaded until the last unit is packed. General Activities – All Crops: In addition to hand-pulling/picking, workers may also use hand tools, such as shovels, rakes, forks, trowels, hammers, hoes, tampers, cutting tools, pruning hooks, shears, and knives, as well as electric and battery-operated power tools. During field and shed operations, workers may be required to operate forklifts, skid steers, tractors, move irrigation pipe, and perform farm, housing, equipment, and field sanitation and maintenance.
