Detassel corn: (100% time) Use clippers to carefully remove the tassels from live corn plants in the field left behind by the machine. Field work: Detasseling: complete removal of designated female tassels until inspection counts 0.2% or less remaining Rogueing: removal of off-type plants Safety gear will be provided for work. Employees will work in all weather except when there is a lightening threat. Sort seed corn to remove defective ears and debris from the line. Seed Sorters: visual evaluation of defective ears of corn based on product color, size, and extent of damage, defective ears manually removed from the processing line; work begins at 7:00am and continues until all products are processed for the day on the employee’s assigned line. Dump Workers: assist with cleaning out truck trailers and dump area(s) by sweeping and/or shoveling; work begins at 6:30am and continues until all products are processed for the day on the worker’s assigned line. Husk/Sort Workers: Will be keeping husking beds clean of debris and making sure belts do not plug; work begins at 6:30am and continues until all product has been processed for the day Moisture Room Workers: assist moisture room personnel with husking ears, taking moisture readings, compiling samples, may be heavy lifting involved; work begins at 6:30am and continues until all products are processed for the day. Silage Load Out Workers: watch belt for foreign object in silage and remove before reaching the silage chopper, loading silage trucks from overhead, cleaning areas during the day; work begins at 6:30am and continues until all products have been processed for the day. Shelling: unload dryer bins and clean after unloaded; cleaning around conveyors and in sheller building; work one of two shifts (4am-2:30pm or 2pm-12:00am). Cleaning Crew: keep site clean of harvest debris/trash during workday by sweeping/shoveling, may be some heavy lifting involved; work begins at 9:00am and continues until approximately 30 minutes after last truck has left the site. Break Room Workers: clean break room tables/floors/kitchen area after worker breaks, clean restrooms, empty trash containers as needed, assist in the moisture room if workload permits; work starts at 7:00am and continues until at least 30 minutes after last truck has left the site. Work days and hours can vary. There will be a 2 day training and transition period between field work and sorting.
