FARM LABORER: Worker will be required to complete the following activities as directed by supervisor: harvesting of blueberries; Workers will be harvesting blueberries according to color, firmness and ripeness; The workers will be riding, pruning, weeding, hoeing, cleaning, sorting, stacking, boxing, carrying, picking, dumping, folding, grading, sweeping, selecting, labeling, manually changing and dumping lugs, washing and sanitizing blueberries and preparing for market. Workers may perform duties related to packing blueberries. In the packing facility, workers will inspect and sort blueberries on moving belts and conveyors according to size, color, quality, and appearance. Workers must handle fruit carefully and place it onto designated belts or containers for proper routing. Work is performed in a fresh produce packing house environment with exposure to noise from equipment, forklift traffic, and ventilation fans. Workers must be able to stand for extended periods, use their hands continuously, and lift and carry product up to shoulder height. Occasional overhead reaching may be required. Workers may be required to perform general cleaning and sanitation duties and other incidental tasks as assigned by the Employer or Supervisor. Workers will pick the ripe blueberries off the bush by grasping the blueberries between their forefinger and thumbnail, then lightly pulling and gently twisting the fruit off the bush and letting the blue berries roll into the palm of the hand. The blue berries will then be placed in a harvesting bucket being careful not to overfill the container. The filled bucket will be taken to the nearest trailer where it will be dumped. The worker will then get their harvesting bucket back and start the process again. Workers are expected to identify and remove stubs or broken branches, downward-growing branches, branches which rub against each other, shaded interior ranches, dead wood and shoots/suckers and selectively remove diseased limbs and branches due to fire blight and/or bacterial canker with hand pruning saws and clippers, mechanized clippers and pole pruners; general maintenance and clean up, including removing debris, rocks and other trash on the farm, pulling weeds by hand, and cutting grass; scraping old trees; drive and operate, tractor, or other farm vehicle as directed on farm property only. Pay will be hourly for all duties except for harvesting of blueberries.
