- Offer description:
Crops: Corn Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. Roguing Duties: Walk through the fields, identify, and remove male corn plants growing among female rows using a shovel. 100% accuracy is expected. The worker will walk down the aisles between the plants in the corn fields, removing the corn plants that are from a different species leaving the field ready for detasseling. Workers will walk repeatedly through the rows (aisles) between corn plants, identifying and removing off-type or cross-pollinated plants to ensure genetic purity of the crop. Workers will carry a shovel or similar hand tool while walking male rows to identify plants that differ in leaf structure, stalk characteristics, root formation, or overall appearance. Once identified, the plant must be cut completely approximately five (5) inches above ground level and left on the ground as instructed. Removal must be complete and accurate. This process will be performed across all assigned locations and may require walking the same rows multiple times during the season. Corn detasseling: the worker will walk down the aisles between the plants in the corn fields, removing the spikes that are left after the detasseling machine passes through. Walk, inspect, and remove tassels from female corn plants with 100% quality. Handle pollen and sharp leaves with care. Workers will walk repeatedly through the rows between corn plants removing tassels. Workers will remove the spikes and drop them on the ground. Seed Corn Sorting: After the machine harvests the seed corn from the fields, the corn cobs will be put on a conveyor belt so the workers can sort the corn cubs by size and class. Flowers: workers will perform agricultural work including planting, weeding and harvesting flowers along with miscellaneous agriculture tasks pertaining to the operations of business. Hand weeding: Workers will walk through the corn fields pooling the weeds around the corn plants. The worker in order to perform this kind of work must be able to work outside for at least 6 hours a day in all kinds of weather and be in possession of the requisite physical strength and endurance, working quickly and skillfully with their hands.
