- Offer description:
Crops: Raspberries, Strawberries, Blackberries. Agricultural workers will perform manual labor related to the cultivation and harvesting of strawberries, blackberries, and raspberries. The primary responsibility is harvesting crops with accuracy, efficiency, and care to maintain product quality. Workers will hand-pick ripe produce according to quality standards, carefully handle and place crops into appropriate containers, and maintain required productivity levels while minimizing damage to the fruit. In addition to harvesting duties, workers will perform a variety of general field and production tasks as needed. These duties include preparing fields for planting through bedding, soil preparation, and shoveling; assisting with irrigation setup, monitoring, and maintenance; and completing general field clean-up, such as removing debris and plant material. Workers will also perform weed control activities, including hand weeding and the use of tools such as weed whackers, hoes, and other hand tools. Weeding and similar non-harvest tasks will be performed as needed, depending on field conditions. Workers are expected to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team while following all supervisor instructions. The employer will provide all tools and equipment necessary to perform required duties at no cost to the worker, including knives, clippers, shears, gloves, hair nets, and other protective gear as needed. Knee pads and long-handled tools will be provided for weeding tasks when appropriate. Workers are responsible for the proper use, care, and return of all tools and equipment provided. Workers must follow all applicable food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety standards. The employer will comply with California Code of Regulations, Title 8, Sections 3437 and 3456(b)–(c), and will provide training in accordance with Section 3203, including instruction on injury and illness prevention, proper tool use, safe lifting techniques, and heat illness prevention. Workers are required to adhere to all safety procedures and promptly report any unsafe conditions or injuries. Additional agricultural duties may be assigned as necessary based on crop conditions and operational needs. Under normal field conditions, workers are expected to meet the production standards reflected in Addendum A. These standards reflect the minimum acceptable productivity rate for continued employment and are consistent with the performance of an experienced berry harvester. Workers will be given a 5-day orientation period to reach this standard. Workers who consistently fail to meet this minimum productivity rate after the orientation period may be subject to termination. Workers are paid at an hourly rate no less than the applicable AEWR; this standard governs continued employment, not the basis of pay.
