Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. Duties may vary from time to time. Clearing ground of rocks, sticks, & roots by hand, clear brush and trees with chain saw. General field & fence maintenance. Use wood to build and repair boxes to use in fall when sorting potatoes. Set up, operate, and repair irrigation systems. Drain water from fields with hand tools and shovel when needed. Load & unload boxes on trucks or trailers. Maintain and clean all hand tools and mechanical equipment prior to and after use. Maintain existing barns or potato shed. The workers will use tools like hoes, hammers, air gun. Workers may be asked to operate vehicles, farm equipment, drive all tractors (in the field), and implements on farm including hipper, disk, dual, chisel plow, potato trans planter, bush hog, skid steer, forklift, water trailer to water plants, and any other equipment related to planting, cultivating, and irrigating crops. Sweet Potatoes - Covering potatoes with use of bedding machine & cover, punch holes, and remove plastic and paper from plant beds. Cut slips by hand with knife, and place in boxes to load & unload onto trucks. Walk behind potato trans planter and fill in slips by hand. Riding mechanical trans planter and loading slips in planting cups de-vining plants by hand. Workers will also perform plant dipping. Vegetables - May also plant and cultivate the following: peas, watermelons, beans, squash, okra, peppers, tomatoes, and corn. May drive the company's vehicles to transport workers to fields, housing, and grocery store.
