Crops/Commodities: gamebirds. Primary duties (performed the majority of workdays): Perform manual tasks associated with production of pheasants. All workers will practice bio-security between pens, barns, and premises. Training will be given on proper techniques, footwear, clothing, and use of disinfecting products and equipment. No contact with birds outside of our facilities is allowed as it is a bio-security hazard.Tend to pheasant flocks. Remove dead birds and report injured or sick pheasants. Monitor flock behavior to detect any signs of illness. Collect eggs from pheasant pens, ensuring proper handling, grading, and storage in accordance with quality and food safety standards. Including cleaning, disinfecting, and storage of eggs. Catch, crate, load, unload, and move birds between houses and facilities using proper animal handling techniques to minimize stress and injury. Grounds maintenance. Which may include mowing and cutting of grass and/or weed around and inside of pens & buildings. Perform ditching, shoveling, hoeing, hauling, ground preparation, and other manual tasks. Maintaining normal upkeep on equipment and machines used. Prepare and sanitize pens, barns, and houses for upcoming flocks. Distribute feed and water. Monitoring feed systems and waterers. Assisting as needed on their maintenance. Assist with farm building/pen maintenance and repairs. Repair fences. Manual labor that includes bending, stooping, and kneeling required. Use hand tools including but not limited to hoes, shovels, shears, clippers, loppers, and saws. Lift, carry, and load/unload products or supplies. Must wear assigned personal protective equipment when required. Must report for work daily wearing weather appropriate clean work clothing and boots/footwear that in non-porous and able to be disinfected. Workers wearing inappropriate clothing for work will not be permitted to start work. Outdoor work required when plants & ground are wet or muddy, during rain, snow, moderate winds, direct sun, high humidity, and extreme temperatures. Temperatures in fields during working hours may vary. Workers may be required to work during occasional showers not severe enough to stop field operations. Allergies to ragweed, goldenrod, honeybees, insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, birds, or related chemicals may affect a worker's ability to perform the job. Work is done primarily outdoors for long periods of time and requires prolonged periods of standing and/or walking, repetitive movements, and frequent bending and/or stooping. Workers must be able to handle, lift, and carry heavy or bulky objects (product, containers) in accordance with the specified lifting requirements. Employer-paid post-hire drug testing and retesting is required upon reasonable suspicion of use. Workers with a clean driving record (no major moving violations such as but not limited to Driving While Intoxicated or Reckless Driving) and able to obtain an insurable driver's license may drive company vehicles. Workers with appropriate licenses and a valid doctor's certificate may transport other workers. Supervisor(s) will provide instructions and directions to workers. Workers must be able to comprehend and follow instructions and communicate effectively to supervisors. Unusual, complex or non-routine activities will be supervised. Workers expected to perform basic duties in a proficient manner without close supervision.
