- Offer description:
Physical labor is needed for all farm activities involved in livestock production, barn repair, fence work, livestock feed production and crops. Livestock work includes feeding, watering, monitoring animal health, and pasture maintenance. The livestock animals will be maintained by the owner when the seasonal workers are not present on the farm. While the seasonal workers are there they will be helping the owner sort, separate, wean and move animals to different fields so that the owner can maintain pastures during the growing season. They will also help prepare the pasture for the care of the animals during the winter when the workers are not on the farm. The crops that will be grown will be hay, corn, sorghum grass and barley that will serve as feed for the cattle. The seasonal workers will help sow, harvest, and store these cattle food sources during the time they are on the farm for the owner to use as feed when they are gone from the farm. The sorghum grass will be harvested in the spring/summer for hay silage for the cattle. The barley will need to be sown in the fall before the workers leave so it can grow while the workers are off the farm. Once the food sources are planted, harvested and stored, the owner is able to disperse the feed to the cattle without assistance of the seasonal workers. Two months experience is necessary in livestock production. Work in the fields and pasture can begin early in the morning and continue all day long even in weather conditions that can be as hot as over 100 degrees. Workers are required to be physically fit and able to perform the duties while standing, bending, stooping, walking, and lift over 80 lbs. all day long. Care must be exercised in all farm work activities. The employer, Jeff Campbell, is involved in the work on his property in Logan County, Kentucky. The employer, Jeff Campbell will make daily individual work assignments, crew assignments and location of work as the needs of the operation dictate. Land is owned or leased but controlled by Jeff Campbell. Other work will be available during the slow part of the season which may include mowing, weed eating around buildings and other repairs and maintenance of any property that is owned or leased by Jeff Campbell. Workers may be assigned a variety of duties in any given day and different task on different days only on land either owned, leased but controlled by Jeff Campbell. Steady and reliable attendance is a required must to each aspect of this job.
