This position supports our Pre-Harvesting, Harvesting and Post-Harvesting Departments on a Seasonal H2A Program. Work under this contract will consist of strawberry harvest, weeding, runners, stackers, crew leads, sorters, forklift operator, truck operator, tractor operator, planting, preharvest labor such as ground prep, post-harvest labor such as pulling plastic and drip tape, irrigation of both organic and conventional strawberries and general farm labor. Work is performed outdoors in highly varied weather conditions. Dexterity to use and manipulate hand tools, farm equipment, and crops is required. Vision, focus, and cognitive ability to accomplish the functions below are required. General Duties: 1. Follow all H-2A program regulations 2. Comply with all CABRERA CONTRACTING INC - H2A Contract requirements 3. Follow all Human Resource, Payroll, Absence, Safety and Food Safety Policies 4. Maintain a clean and organized work environment to ensure the safety of all team members, including Housing Areas and Equipment 5. Use company supplied PPE safety aids (i.e., back support belts, safety glasses, gloves, coveralls, etc.) and communication equipment 6. Safely operate and maintain company equipment, (i.e., tools, vehicles, tractor, etc.) 7. Follow accident-reporting procedures by reporting immediately to direct report 8. Perform job(s) in a safe and beneficial manner Harvesting Duties: 1. Strawberry harvesting by hand and packed in clam shells, in a fast-paced environment. 2. Sorters receive the final package products and the stackers place them on pallets. 3. Hoeing/Weeding undesired vegetation that grows along with the crop planted, using a long-handled hoe. 4. Thinning/runner cutting, removing plants or parts of plants to facilitate the growth of the crop planted. 5. Debris and trash cleaning of any foreign objects on fields prior to harvest. 6. Ranch housekeeping of all perimeters (yards, banks, borders, etc.) 7. All these activities will be under the direction of the Crew Leads, who work under the direction of the Supervisors. 8. Safely operate tractors, forklifts, and other farm equipment as needed for transporting harvested products and materials. 9. Perform routine maintenance inspections on equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation 10. Adhere to safety protocols and report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns immediately 11. Perform other tasks and duties under SOC Code 45-2092. Related duties may be assigned. Pre and Post Harvesting Duties: 1. Prepare fields for irrigation by sprinkler or drip delivery system 2. Set up, monitor, and maintain irrigation systems, including sprinklers and drip lines 3. Move and adjust portable sprinklers and irrigation pipes to ensure proper water coverage across fields 4. Perform scheduled irrigation, start of pumps, redirect water through irrigation gates of fields (day, night) 5. Repair and replace damaged lines or equipment to maintain optimal irrigation efficiency 6. Perform planting and cultivation activities 7. Perform general maintenance tasks such as clearing debris, cleaning equipment, and ensuring fields remain accessible for irrigation and harvesting tasks 8. Place or remove plastic and drip tape onto irrigation systems or from fields 9. Dexterity to use and manipulate hand tools such as shovels, scissors, etc. 10. Safely operate tractors, trucks, forklifts, and other farm equipment (ATV, Ranch Vehicle, Vacuum Tractor) as needed for transporting materials, preparing fields, and supporting irrigation tasks 11. Perform routine maintenance inspections on equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation 12. Adhere to safety protocols and report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns immediately 13. Perform other tasks and duties under SOC Code 45-2092. Related duties may be assigned.
