Skill Level 1 Lifting Requirement: 80 Lbs. Sod: Plant and work in the fields. Sod can weigh anywhere from 10 lbs. to 25 lbs. each piece. Workers can apply the seeds to the fields by hand or use equipment which also includes handling 50 -80-pound bags of seed, fertilizer, mulch, straw and large straw bales, climbing up and down ladders: mow the fields, maintain irrigation in fields, cut, roll, stack and prepare for the shipment of the Sod. Harvesting of sod by operating a sod-cutting machine. load pallets on truck and help tarp truck. Assist in loading sod from truck at delivery point and installation of sod at delivery point. Load and unload trucks by hand or machine. Workers will be required to lay Sod when needed. Prepare fields for the next harvest, placing the net material consisting of presenting the net and bending down to the earth every 3 feet. To put a stake in the earth that bends and leans for long periods of time. Plant, weed, fertilize, harvest and load corn, wheat, soybeans and strawberries. Perform a variety of other duties including lubricating and repairing farm machinery. Work in extreme heat or cold for long hours per day Alternative Work: General farm maintenance and other duties as required in the farming operation maintenance. Includes, but not limited to, draining fields, preparing land for planting, maintenance of tools & equipment, and other work as directly related to the crop. General Conditions: If work is available beyond normal workdays, employer may offer, but not require, worker an opportunity to work additional hours. Workers will report to work at designated time and place as directed by assigned employer each day. workers may be requested ten (10) hours per day depending on conditions in fields and the maturity of the crops. Also, workers may be requested to work on federal holidays and their Sabbath but will not be required. Workers may volunteer to work additional hours when work is available. Downtime: Workers must expect occasional periods of little or no work due to weather, harvest, or other conditions beyond the control of the Employer. These periods can occur at any time throughout the season. Vacation and extended time off are not allowed unless it is deemed an emergency. Any extended time off is only given when the Employer gives written approval. Workers may be required to work in fields when crops are wet with dew/rain and should have clothing suitable for conditions that include light rain and temperatures ranging from 35 degrees to more than 100 degrees. Workers must be able to stand, bend, walk for prolonged periods of time and be physically fit to perform duties. Care must always be exercised with any use of equipment.
