- Offer description:
A custom operating business in Northeast Wisconsin performs a range of agricultural services, including planting, mowing, merging, and chopping, with primary crops consisting of haylage and corn silage. Planting typically begins in early May, with first-crop hay targeted for mid-May during the 2026 season; subsequent hay harvests occur approximately every 28 days, with four crops usually taken annually. Corn harvest generally runs from early to mid-September through mid-October, and additional cover crops such as triticale, rye, oats, and straw are harvested throughout the season. The business provides critical fieldwork support to two large dairies in the area Kinnard Farms Inc. and Ebert Enterprises each managing roughly 10,000 acres of owned, rented, and purchased-feed ground, including about 3,000 acres of hay and 7,000 acres of corn per farm each year. Equipment includes four self-propelled forage harvesters, five triple mowers, five mergers, and eight semi and straight trucks. Employee responsibilities include operating triple mowers and windrowers to cut and merge forages; driving semis and straight trucks to transport crops; operating seed tenders, planters, and forage harvesters (depending on experience); performing basic mechanical duties such as oil changes, tire rotations, filter replacements, greasing, washing equipment, refilling fluids, and completing daily maintenance; supporting general farm labor; traveling to pick up parts; pressure washing equipment; performing lawn maintenance; and completing touch-up painting on equipment. The employer, at its sole discretion, may grant pay increases based on factors such as performance, longevity, and/or experience. Employer may also, at its sole discretion, offer performance-based incentive bonuses that are not guaranteed and are determined by the employer.
