“We are a working cattle and horse guest ranch in the Colorado Mountains. We farm about 1300 acres of native grass hay (both owned and custom cut) and manage around 3000 acres of pasture land. Our ranch utilizes flood irrigation. We utilize John Deere and New Holland equipment for our ranch operations. Our ranch hand position must be able to operate equipment, and be reliable with feeding livestock. This applicant must be able to also work with clients who are part of our guest ranch operations (since guests are around the ranch and our agricultural operations help support our guest ranch business) in a variety of settings and other duties as assigned which may include grounds maintenance, cleaning of ranch facilities and guest services. Job duties may include and are not limited to tasks such as: apply products such as fertilizers, pesticides, growth inhibitors, etc; attach/detach implements; clean work areas; construct facilities; haul and spread materials such as but not limited to fertilizer to condition the soil; inform farm managers of plants or crops progress; load and unload materials and commodities; maintain grounds and landscaping; maintain inventory; repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment; repair farm buildings, fences, and other structures; tend to livestock by feeding, medicating, general care, grading, sorting, working, placing identification on, or relocating; trap and destroy pests; use hand tools such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, loppers, and knives; use hand tools such as wrenches, crow bars, air tools, electric tools; work with clients; maintain ranch facilities. Equipment such as but not limited to the following will be used/operated by the workers in conjunction with the duties being performed: bailers and other hay equipment, dirt moving equipment, horseback riding for sorting, caring for livestock, irrigation equipment, mowers and other landscaping equipment, pickups, cars, etc, sprayers, swathers, bailers, and other hay equipment, wheel barrows, vacuums. The workers will be performing the duties to help produce: cattle, horses, hay, guest services. Must speak and understand English” and maintain the Skill 1 assessment for SOC Code 45-2093.
