Crops/Commodities: Manure Application. Primary duties (performed the majority of workdays): Perform work involving maintenance occupations to keep machines, mechanical equipment, and building structures in proper working order and repair. Duties include a broad range of skilled trades including pipe fitting, HVAC maintenance, insulating, welding, machining, carpentry, and electrical or mechanical equipment repair. Worker will be responsible for installing, aligning, and balancing new equipment, as well as repairing buildings, floors, and stairs to maintain safe and functional facilities. Assemble, installing, and repairing wiring, electrical or electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, and equipment. Adjust functional parts of devices or control instruments using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, or straightedges, and aligns and balances new equipment after installation. Dismantle machines, equipment, or devices to access and remove defective parts using hoists, cranes, hand tools, or power tools, and set up and operate machine tools to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures, or tools. Repair and install evaporative cooling systems. Repair and fabricate existing equipment inside production facilities. Troubleshoot and repair swine production systems including cooling systems, feed lines and fans Order parts, supplies, or equipment from catalogs or suppliers, estimates costs for repair work, and maintains accurate records of the type and cost of maintenance or repair activities. Plan and lay out repair work using diagrams, drawings, blueprints, maintenance manuals, or schematic diagrams. Perform general building maintenance tasks such as painting or repairing roofs, windows, doors, floors, woodwork, plaster, and drywall. Fabricate or repair wooden structures such as counters, benches, partitions, sheds, or outbuildings, and operates cutting torches or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts. Perform routine maintenance on boilers, positioning or blowing insulating materials to prevent energy losses. Inspect roofs, gutters, and other hard-to-reach areas of buildings. Workers must operate all equipment properly and in a manner that protects operator, others, the employer's products and property. Failure to comply with safety requirements and operating instructions may result in disciplinary action up to and including immediate termination. Must wear assigned personal protective equipment when required. Must report for work daily wearing work clothing and boots or other durable foot wear. Workers wearing clothing inappropriate for work will not be permitted to start work. Outdoor work required when plants are wet, or during light rain, snow, moderate winds, direct sun, high humidity and extreme temperatures. Temperatures in fields during working hours may vary. Workers may be required to work during occasional showers not severe enough to stop field operations. Allergies to ragweed, goldenrod, honey bees, insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, or related chemicals may affect a worker's ability to perform the job. Work is done outdoors for long periods of time and requires prolonged periods of standing and/or walking, repetitive movements, and frequent bending and/or stooping. Workers must be able to handle, lift, and carry heavy or bulky objects (product, containers) in accordance with the specified lifting requirements. Job opportunity is Skill Level II. Workers must be able to perform all primary duties independently and without close supervision. Employer may request, but not require, workers to work more than the stated daily hours and/or on a worker's Sabbath or federal holidays. Worker must report to work at designated time and place each day. Daily or weekly work schedule may vary due to weather, sunlight, temperature, crop conditions, and other factors. Employer will notify workers of any change to start time. Workers will have an unpaid lunch break.
