All applicants must be able, willing and qualified to perform the work described in the job order and must be available for the entire period of employment specified in Section A.3 & A.4. Workers will perform any combination of the following tasks daily: Attend to animals on the farm, that may include cattle, swine, sheep, poultry. Feed and water and ensure adequate provision of both; Workers will maintain records on animals; Examine animals to detect diseases and injuries; Assist in birth deliveries; livestock and newborn offspring (including night checks); Administer medications, vaccinations, or insecticides as appropriate. The work assigned will be physically demanding, walking, bending, stooping and kneeling for long periods of time will be required. Workers must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds frequently. Workers will lift and stack bales of hay, sacks of grain, and minerals onto a feed truck or wagon, assist with loading and unloading livestock. Workers may clean stalls, pens, barns, and buildings. Workers may use hand tools such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, hand saws, knives, to repair and/or maintain farm structures and farm grounds, fences, and facilities to ensure the safety and health of animals; Maintain/drive/attach and operate farm implements/tractors/equipment to till soil, plant, cultivate, fertilize, and harvest crops; Remove excess plant growth from farm grounds; Workers may be required to do snow removal duties including shoveling walkways, plowing paths and private roads using various types of equipment, ATV with a blade, or loader. Workers may be asked to operate trucks or other multi-purpose vehicles to transport workers from housing (whether on or off farm) to the farm properties; haul tools, supplies, or crops; transport workers from place to place around the farm properties during the workday (including on public roads to reach farmer's fields); and/or transport workers to the grocery store, bank, or laundry facilities on an as needed basis. Workers that are requested to drive will be required to possess a valid driver’s license; no worker will be rejected for not having a driver's license. Workers who do drive will still perform the same field work and other duties as non-driving workers; driving is not a primary duty. . Workers will work a 2- hour shifts within the 7:00am - 7:00pm window on Monday; plus a 6-hour shifts within the same window on Tuesday; plus a 7-hour shifts within the same window Wednesday through Saturday, and a 4-hour shifts within the same window on Sundays. This total 40 hours per week. The 7:00am to 7:00pm range accounts for farm conditions (e.g., weather or crop readiness) to ensure workers complete the required hours. Workers will not work a full 12-hour shift. Workers will be given at least 30-minute Lunch break which is staggered between 11am - 1pm as decided by the workers and management. Workers may choose where to eat their lunch and return to work after their 30 minutes are up. The daily or weekly work schedules may vary due to weather, sunlight, temperature, farm conditions, and other factors. The employer will notify workers of any change to the schedule. The employer will provide 1 day of training and allow 2 days of work for the workers to satisfactorily perform duties described in this job description. Workers may be eligible for discretionary bonus pay based on experience and performance. All materials and tools will be provided by the employer at no cost to the worker. Workers must be able to take direction in simple English.
