Workers will pick a variety of applesby hand using company providedpicking baskets. Workers will workfrom the ground and from aluminumladders up to 8 feet tall. Workers willneed to closely follow companyinstructions to ensure apples are notdamaged during the picking process.Some apples may be selectivelypicked for size, color or condition.Workers will assist in moving emptywooden bins and/or crates in andaround the orchard by hand. Sortingof apples will take place indoorsusing a semi-automatic sizing graderand will require workers to sort outunsuitable fruit from good quality fruitand placing good fruit into wooden crates and cardboard boxes. Fullcrates/boxes will be stacked onpallets. Workers may assist withproduction and distribution of applecider made with at least 50% ofapples grown on the employer'sorchards, filling duties such aspressing apples into cider, filling ciderinto plastic jugs, loading jugs intocrates, and stacking crates of cider.Workers will provide general orchardand other farm labor includingestablishing/repairing trellis, cleaningup the orchard, repairing irrigationlines, tying branches, thinning apples,mowing and cutting ground sprouts.Workers will prune apple trees usingpruning tools and aluminum laddersup to 8 feet tall. Workers will repairwooden crates and apple bins usinghand and pneumatic tools. Workerswill also plant, grow, pick and preparefor sale strawberries, rhubarb andother seasonal crops, and performlight maintenance and improvementof farm structures, land andequipment. Weekly and hourly workschedules in Boxes A.6 and A.7 aremerely approximate; actual hours willdepend on weather and needs of thefarm, and substantial mandatoryovertime will probably be assigned.
