The job involves a variety of agricultural tasks associated with blueberry farming, including tractor operations, plant care, harvest activities, and shipment preparation. Specific duties include: 1.) Tractor Operations: Approved and supervised application of fertilizers and pesticides. Operating machinery for deweeding and sawdust application to manage weeds effectively. 2.) Blueberry Pruning and Planting: Pruning blueberry plants to ensure optimal growth and yield. Planting replacement blueberry plants for those that have died, ensuring consistent field productivity. 3.)Harvesting Activities: Operating machinery for the harvesting of blueberries intended for the U.S. fresh market. Ensuring berries are harvested efficiently and meet quality standards for market distribution. 4.) Loading and Unloading: Loading harvested blueberries onto trucks for shipment. Unloading as necessary to facilitate processing or storage. 5.) Sawdust Application: Applying sawdust around blueberry plants to suppress weed growth and improve soil conditions. Workers are required to perform these tasks in compliance with all safety protocols and under supervision when necessary, ensuring that all work is conducted efficiently and to the highest quality standards. Workers will generally be scheduled for approximately 54 hours per week. Workers may be offered the opportunity to work more than 40 hours per week; however, overtime or hours above 40 per week are voluntary and not required.
