Beekeeping/Extracting (90%): worker will work in a team to provide care and maintenance of honey bee hives and associated honey extracting duties. Worker will assist with general hive care (using hand tools, feed hoze/nozzle, etc.) to provide liquid feed, medication, and/or nutritional substances to hives; add empty hive box [super] to hives; remove super from hive. Worker will be trained on forklift operation, if necessary, to help with movement of bee hives or equipment. Worker will also be responsible for physically lifting hives and/or boxes for movement or honey super placement and removal. Worker will assist with scraping frames for extracting, placing full boxes of honey on conveyor line, removal of empty boxes and frames from conveyor line and may be trained on semi-automated machinery used for honey removal process. Worker will assist with cleanup and care of beekeeping equipment, vehicles, and general farm property and bee hive locations. Worker will assist with washing empty honey containers, filling empty drums or totes with extracted honey, labeling honey containers, cleaning extract room/equipment and loading/unloading/shipping/receiving honey, hives, and equipment. Related Farm Labor (10%): use of equipment & tools to mow grass at work site/ bee yard locations, sorting equipment by examining honeycomb frames to determine quality size of combs for separation into category of brood or honey frames; inspect supers for quality; repair equipment as needed with hand/power tools/ paint; if trained: driving forklifts to move equipment in shop; if has driver’s license: operation of company vehicles for bee hive maintenance & associated tasks. The job duties contained within the application will be completed at the above address and our bee yards. All employees begin and end their workday at the above address, with some employees visiting nearby bee yards to check on the welfare of bees throughout the day. These bee yards are small areas of land that IntegriBees owns or controls through verbal agreements with the landowners as is historic precedent between beekeepers and landowners. These yards are necessary to our operation to ensure that our bees have adequate access to nectar and water in times that we do not provide feed/ supplemental nutrition. There is no benefit to the landowner to have these hives on their property and our employees are responsible for placing IntegriBees LLC hives and completing tasks directly related to the health and wellbeing of IntegriBees, LLC operated hives. We do not provide services to landowners. All work is performed for and controlled by IntegriBees, LLC within a single area of intended employment with all workers starting at and returning to the primary work site each day. Due to different activities within the season workers may be requested (but not required) to work additional hours or on Sunday to accomplish tasks in the time required due to crop maturity, weather, and shipping schedule.
