- Offer description:
Blueberry Harvester Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. Harvesting is done by hand. Workers will walk down assigned rows and harvest blueberries by selecting fruit based on size and color (ripeness) as directed. Workers must be able to distinguish colors to ensure only ripe fruit is harvested. Workers will utilize a 1-gallon canvas picking bucket equipped with a shoulder strap. Workers are responsible for retrieving the bucket from the field truck and transporting it to the designated harvest area. While positioned at the blueberry bush, workers will carefully remove fruit and place it into the bucket, taking care not to break limbs, damage plants, or knock fruit to the ground. Once the 1-gallon bucket is full, workers will transport it to the collection point (field truck) at the end of the row and carefully unload the fruit into a small tub or container. General Maintenance and Support Activities (Incidental Duties) When primary harvesting work is temporarily unavailable due to weather, crop conditions, or other operational factors, workers may be required to perform incidental maintenance and clean-up activities directly related to agricultural operations. These duties will not replace or substantially reduce the availability of primary agricultural work. Tasks may include maintenance of the worksite and farm property; cleaning and minor upkeep of agricultural structures; installation or removal of plastic mulch and irrigation drip tape; removal of debris, weeds, and vines from fields and fence lines; and field sanitation activities such as cleaning and disinfecting harvest buckets, bins, trailers, and hand tools. Workers may assist with basic upkeep of employer-provided housing limited to cleanliness and minor maintenance necessary to maintain health and safety standards. Workers must be able to perform strenuous manual labor outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and rain, for a minimum of six (6) hours per day. The position requires physical strength and endurance to bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods, as well as manual dexterity to repetitively use hands in a fast-paced agricultural environment. Lifting up to 60 lbs is required but does not involve specialized skill or training. The employer will provide all tools, supplies, and equipment required (if applicable) to perform assigned duties at no cost to the worker. Consistent with applicable law, the employer may recover the reasonable cost of repair or replacement of tools or equipment if loss or damage results from the worker’s willful misconduct or gross negligence. Any such recovery will occur only after the damage has occurred, upon receipt of the worker’s voluntary written authorization, and provided such recovery does not violate applicable wage law. A zero-tolerance policy for alcohol possession or consumption is strictly enforced on all worksite locations. This rule is essential for preventing workplace accidents. Workers must be sober and not under the influence of alcohol or drugs during all working hours.
