During the Spring/Summer/Fall, workers will operate Class A or B commercial motor vehicles, including tractor-trailers, tri-axle, quad-axle, and other heavy-duty farm trucks to haul fertilizer, grain, filled bags, bins, and agricultural products between fields, sheds, storage facilities, and delivery locations. Workers will be instructed in the safety and operation of the trucks/tractors before driving. Assist in loading and picking up loose or spilled produce. Load, secure, transport, and unload agricultural materials in accordance with safety regulations and employer instructions. Deliver agricultural products to designated locations and return empty containers, bags, or bins to farms or fields. Complete delivery documentation, sales tickets, and trip reports as required and provide receipts to customers when applicable. All delivery drivers will be able to return to their residence or employer-provided housing within the same workday. Assist with the application, hauling, and delivery of fertilizer and agricultural chemical products to the field with spreaders. Bag and blend fertilizer to customer’s specifications. Assist with receiving, weighing, and managing agricultural inventory using scale operations. Operate related agricultural equipment incidental to trucking duties, including front-end loaders, forklifts, augers/legs, and fertilizer application equipment. Harvest potatoes: Workers may be asked to hand pull weeds, hand pick potatoes, and place them on the harvest grader according to supervisor instructions. Workers will only pick good potatoes, clearing out debris, garbage, and dirt. All tools will be provided at no cost to the workers. Picking stones: Workers will walk across the fields to hand pick stones to be removed following supervisor's instructions. Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and report mechanical issues. Perform routine cleaning and minor maintenance of trucks and equipment. Follow all employer, cooperative, federal, and state safety policies and procedures, including DOT and CDL requirements. Repeated failure to obey safety requirements and operating instructions may result in termination. Operate vehicles in a manner that protects the safety of the driver, other workers, the public, crops, products, and equipment. Perform other truck-driving or agricultural support duties as assigned.
