Operating farm equipment in connection with the production of grain and oilseed crops, including cultivating, planting, fertilizing, irrigating, and harvesting crops such as corn, rice, soybeans, wheat, and other similar crops. Duties include performing manual labor related to crop production; lifting, loading, and unloading bags of seed, feed, fertilizer, and agricultural chemicals weighing up to 75 pounds; installing and removing levee gates and tarps on irrigation splash board risers; checking irrigated fields for proper drainage and flooding; maintaining irrigation pumps and motors during the growing season and winterizing equipment at the end of the season; using hand tools, including shovels, to maintain proper field drainage; receiving grain and oilseed crops for drying and storage; cleaning grain bins and other grain storage facilities; disposing of spoiled grain from pits and elevator areas; cleaning, organizing, and maintaining shops and work areas; chopping and weed-eating weeds; clearing and maintaining irrigation ditches; bush-hogging and clipping turnrows; performing routine daily maintenance on equipment, machinery, buildings, and fences; and operating a pickup truck to obtain parts, repairs, and supplies. Work may occur at night and on weekends as agricultural conditions require. Employer may request, but will not require, work on the worker’s Sabbath. All equipment operation will be beginner-level and performed under supervision.
