Ag Mechanic: Agricultural equipment mechanics repair farm equipment (vehicles, harvesting machines, etc.). Work Environment: Primarily in a shop environment; exposure to noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, noxious odors, gases, and all types of weather and temperature conditions; exposure to hazardous traffic conditions; work and/or walk on various types of surfaces or terrain. Essential Functions and Basic Duties: Following the supervisors instructions, the mechanics will diagnose, repair and overhaul engines, transmissions, components, electrical and fuel systems, etc. for various powered and rolling equipment such as cars, trucks, buses, farm equipment and generators. The workers will maintain appropriate service and repair records. May infrequently and sporadically engage in equipment repair in fields. Commercial Drivers (Truck Drivers): Drive large Semi Trucks (26,001 pounds or higher) in the field and to deliver sod to customers in the Livingston area of intended employment. This activity is secondary agriculture under the Fair Labor Standards Act as it is in conjunction with and incidental to West Coast Turf’s farming operations. The sod is grown 100% by the employer. In the yard, Truck Drivers will: 1. Conduct daily pre-trip inspection on vehicle and document/report maintenance needs 2. Fuel Semi-Truck 3. Clean and wash truck as needed In the fields, Truck Driver will: 1. Secure loads in the field 2. Transport sod from fields to customers 3. Un-tie loads, remove v-bords and tarps upon delivery 4. Drive a tractor trailer and back up to loading docks. Truck Drivers may also transport employees to store, bank, doctor, hospital, and any other place considered necessary by West Coast Turf.
