As a nursery worker you will need to be able to consistently stand for long periods of time in all weather conditions. Lift and load 50lb bags of potting soil. Prepare soil and growing medium and place in trays, baskets etc. Place seeds into trays by hand and help operate the drum seeder. Place plug plants into baskets and flats. Load, unload and move trays and baskets and place in greenhouses. When planting strayberry tips you must be able to stand and work in repetitive motions for long periods of time in hot and wet conditions. Inspect plants for bugs and diseases as you are placing strawberry tips in trays. Water, fetilize and spray plants. Push and pull carts around as needed. Empty trays into compost bin. Help with cleaning and sanitizing foam trays, baskets, flats etc. Cleans and sanitize work areas. Maintain grounds, greenhouses and landscaped areas. Plant and harvest fruits, vegetables and flowers including but not limited to strawberries and irises. Operate farm equipment such as mowers, tractors, skid steers and farm vehicles. Operate forklift and pallet jack to load, unload, and move around boxes and pallets of potting soil, strawberry tips etc. Operate irrigation equipment. Help load customers as needed. General maintenance to infrastructure including but not limited to replacing plastic on greenhouses, laying new landscape fabric and watering machinery.Workers may deliver products to customers. Workers with a valid Alabama State Drivers license may occasionally drive non CDL delivery trucks. The same may drive a pickup truck to pickup old bread. Workers may load and unload old bread and feed to pigs and goats. The employer reserves the right to pay additional wages based on job performance and or legnth of service. 2 workers will be needed for March 1, 2026 and 7 additional workers will be needed for August 1, 2026.
