This position's requirements mirror the general job duties assigned to SOC 53-3032. The Truck Driver will be expected to drive a tractor-trailer combination or a truck with a capacity of at least 26,001 pounds Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW). May be required to unload truck. Requires commercial drivers’ license. The Driver will help transport farm equipment, from one field to another, from warehouses to the crop fields, and from the fields to warehouses for repair, maintenance, storage, or for continued use. Equipment will includes but is not limited to tractors, machinery, stakes, pallets. The driver employee will not be responsible for transporting any produce or commodity produced by the farm. The Driver is expected to be comfortable driving Tractor-Trailer trucks, Dump Trucks, Tractors and lighter weight trucks that are usually found on farms. The Truck Driver will also be expected to drive smaller lightweight vehicles when required. The Driver is expected to be excellent at securing cargos that are transported in open trailers. The cargos will usually be the aforementioned farm equipment, farm produce, and other materials used in farm work. The Driver will be expected to know how to properly help load and unload the cargo he/she transports. Additionally, the Driver will also be expected to be available to carry out other tasks that relate to the planting, growing and picking of produce as a farmworker. This part of the job mirrors the position labeled by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics as SOC 45-2092 Farmworkers and Laborers. The Driver will be paid the same rate that corresponds with the Driver position, or whichever has a higher hourly rate pay. The Driver may only be asked to do Farmwork duties if there is no Driver duties available . As a Farmworker, the worker can expect the following: Help plant, grow and pick crops. The crops include different varieties of tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, squash, eggplant, cucumber, and Workers will have to help plant, irrigate, and maintain crops in good health. Farmworkers need to learn and help drive stakes into the ground, learn to help maintain plants in good health. Farmworkers will need to learn how to distinguish between crops. Workers will then have to help harvest the crops. Farmworkers will also assist in other harvest related activities such as field preparation and field clean up after the harvest work is complete.
