Sod Delivery Driver: Delivers sod produced on the farm within a radial of 144 miles of the field in which it was grown (in its unmanufactured state) to storage or to market or to a carrier for transportation to market. Drivers will be able to return their residence or to the employer-provided housing sites listed in the job order each day, and no overnight stay required. Load and unload sod using forklift. Drive a tractor-trailer combination with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of 26,001 pounds or more. Must abide by precise instructions and strict but necessary safety rules and policies. Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety and emergency equipment is in good working order. Secure and cover sod for transport. Maintain logs of working hours following all applicable state and federal regulations. Requires valid commercial drivers’ license issued by a U.S. state or foreign equivalent. Must be at least 23 years of age. Must obtain a DOT medical examiner’s certificate before commencing work. Workers may be requested to submit to random drug or alcohol tests at no cost to the worker. Failure to comply with the request or testing positive may result in immediate termination. All testing will occur post-hire and is not a part of the interview process. Negative result may be required post-hire and before commencing work. Must be able to lift 75 lbs. Use of cell phone or other personal electronic device while driving strictly prohibited by law and violation may result in immediate termination. Drivers must present a clean 24 months commercial driving history (no accidents, no moving violations) and be insurable by the employer's insurance carrier in order to operate the employer's heavy trucks on public highways. Must meet DOT English language proficiency requirement.
