- Offer description:
Our operation includes planting and raising row crops. It is seasonal because we begin tillage around February and planting around March. We then monitor and care for the crops throughout the growing season until harvest is complete, followed by a short break before the cycle begins again. Job duties will include preparing fields for planting; attaching farm implements such as plows, discs, sprayers, or planters to tractors using bolts and hand tools; operating tractors, planters, sprayers, seed drills, manure spreaders, irrigation equipment, and other farm machinery; engaging in planting, weeding, spraying, and cultivating activities; fertilizing, dusting, and spraying crops, including applying fertilizer or pesticide solutions to control insects, fungus, weeds, and diseases using hand sprayers; irrigating soil using portable pipes or ditch systems and maintaining ditches, pipes, and pumps; installing, maintaining, and repairing pivot irrigation systems; loading and unloading crops or materials manually or using conveyors, forklifts, or transfer augers; loading hoppers, containers, or conveyors to feed machines with products using forklifts, transfer augers, suction gates, shovels, or pitchforks; manipulating controls to set, activate, and adjust mechanisms on machinery; mixing specified materials or chemicals and loading solutions, powders, or seeds into machinery; observing and listening to machinery operation to detect equipment malfunctions; positioning boxes or attaching bags at discharge ends of machinery to catch products and closing full containers; walking beside or riding on planting machines while inserting plants into planter mechanisms at specified intervals; completing maintenance and repairs on irrigation equipment; recording agricultural data; driving pickup trucks to haul crops, supplies, and tools; inspecting, adjusting, and performing routine maintenance and repairs on equipment; and mowing and maintaining grass and farmyards. The employer, at its sole discretion, may grant pay increases based on factors such as performance, longevity, and/or experience.
