- Offer description:
Workers will perform agricultural tasks associated with the production of nursery stock, including containerized and balled‑and‑burlapped trees, shrubs, perennials, and ornamental grasses, at employer‑controlled nursery and greenhouse locations. Duties include preparing soil and containers; planting trees, shrubs, perennials, and ornamental grasses; irrigating; fertilizing; pruning; topping; taping; transplanting; spacing; staking; and culling plants to promote health and marketability. Workers will harvest, grade, pack, label, load, and store nursery stock using techniques appropriate for each variety and must be able to distinguish between varieties to ensure quality standards. Additional tasks include uncovering and recovering plants, installing and removing poly blankets, and assisting with assembly, repair, and preparation of poly‑covered winter storage houses. Workers may apply fertilizers and approved chemicals to control undesirable growth and pests, following employer‑provided training and EPA Worker Protection Standard requirements. Work may involve incidental mechanized field operations using tractors, planters, sprayers, cultivators, and similar equipment; in some cases, designated workers may primarily operate skid‑loaders for loading, unloading, transporting, and placing nursery stock. Employer provides required safety training and PPE, and seat belts must be used where applicable. Workers may also perform general agricultural tasks such as irrigation, shoveling, hoeing, hauling, ground preparation, and weeding, as well as other duties directly related to nursery production and maintenance of fields and operational areas. Non‑supervisory workers may demonstrate tasks to others, and designated workers may act as a liaison between the crew and the supervisor to report progress and completed work. The job requires repetitive movements, extensive walking and standing, bending for long periods, and lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 75 pounds to a height of five feet. Workers must understand and follow verbal and written instructions. All work will be performed on land owned, leased, or controlled by the employer, and all tools, equipment, and PPE will be provided at no cost.
