Workers will operate and maintain agricultural equipment and vehicles used in rice production, including but not limited to tractors (up to and including 500 horsepower), combines, tillage equipment, sprayers, grain carts, grain elevators, sweep augers, and other farm machinery. Workers will assist in the planting, cultivating, irrigating, and harvesting of rice crops, including performing tillage work, operating tractors and harvest equipment, running and monitoring irrigation systems, installing and adjusting levee gates, checking and maintaining pumps, and performing field preparation activities such as shoveling and clearing levees. Workers will haul harvested crops from fields to on-farm bins and commercial grain elevators, load and unload trucks, dump trucks during harvest, operate grain handling equipment, and assist with moving crops to market. Workers must possess a valid driver’s license and will operate farm trucks (non-CDL) to transport crops, equipment, and supplies. Workers will be responsible for routine maintenance and repair of agricultural equipment, vehicles, and irrigation systems, and may also perform mowing, weed eating, truck repairs, general farm labor, and other duties as assigned. Workers must have a minimum of three (3) months of verifiable experience operating large agricultural equipment, including tractors of up to 500 horsepower, in a commercial agricultural operation. During peak planting and harvest seasons, workers should expect increased workloads and extended working hours to meet seasonal agricultural demands. Drug screening may be conducted in the event of an accident or incident at the employer’s expense, and failure or refusal to submit to a required drug test may result in immediate termination.
