- Offer description:
The worker will assist with seasonal winter agricultural tasks that occur after the close of Willow Haven Farm’s main growing season. Responsibilities include post-harvest field cleanup, equipment maintenance, and greenhouse preparation for early spring planting. Tasks include retrieving and storing irrigation lines and weed barrier fabric; mowing fallow fields; rototilling soil; planting and maintaining cover crops; and spreading compost or other organic materials using tractors, carts, or hand tools. The worker will operate tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, and self-propelled equipment to rototill and prepare fields and planting beds. The worker will dig, rake, and screen soil for use in cold frames and hot beds. Additional duties include loading crops or materials for transport, maintaining inventory of supplies, and cleaning and organizing work areas. The worker may assist in repairing and maintaining farm vehicles, implements, fences, buildings, and tools. Snow removal and basic landscape upkeep may also be required. In the greenhouse, the worker will repair benches, replace plastic, fill planting trays with soil mix, assist with seed starting, and monitor greenhouse conditions and seedling germination. The worker may record plant growth and crop data under supervision. This position requires lifting up to 60 lbs, working outdoors in cold conditions, and performing repetitive physical tasks. Work Schedule Explanation: The position is scheduled for 35 total hours per week, with daily hours varying by day as listed above. Work is typically performed during morning hours between 7:00 AM and 2:00 PM, depending on weather, daylight, and farm operational needs. Some days require fewer hours than others, and Sunday work is not anticipated. The job is temporary and seasonal in nature and ends February 28, 2026.
