Job requires the operation of various tractors and farm equipment to till soil; work ground; prepare and maintain land; and plant, irrigate, fertilize, spray, cultivate, and tend to all crops. Equipment that workers may be required to operate includes, but is not limited to, tractors with various implements, equipment that utilizes GPS and auto-guidance systems, sprayers, spreaders, skid steers, excavators, forklifts, mowers, and UTVs. Job requires walking corn/rice/sunflower fields to fill gaps by hand made by mechanical planters and ensuring even distribution of corn, sunflower, or rice seed; straightening predetermined number of corn stalks into an open furrow at specific intervals/overlaps; using back pack and hand held sprayers to eradicate weeds near shops and fields; participating in irrigation activities including laying pipe, walking length of irrigation pipe to puncture it at set intervals, setting up and operating irrigation equipment, clearing an maintaining irrigation ditches, operating well motors, draining excess water from fields, monitoring fields to check on and maintain adequate water supply to crops, shoveling drains and around outlets to remove trapped water, installing water drain outlets in fields; properly mixing chemicals; loading chemicals into sprayers; changing combine cutting heads; rouging fields and using hand tools to remove undesirable plant varieties, trash, and other objects from fields; performing general maintenance, repairs and/or clean-up of storage sheds, building and all farm equipments; ensuring operational areas are organized and well maintained using hand tools and equipment to repair, clean and maintain farm vehicles, machinery and specialized machinery and agricultural equipment; regularly servicing equipment; and operating chainsaws to clear brush, trees, and debris, if needed. There are few typical days and workers may be required to change duties and/or locations often and engage in various general functions. Daily duties may vary depending on crop, weather and field conditions.
