Job duties include operating equipment to harvest turfgrass sod; load sod into market bound trucks; assisting customers with loading sod on their trucks; hand stacking sod rolls onto customer’s vehicles; stacking and repairing pallets as needed; installing drain tiles; operation of various tractors and farm equipment to till soil, plant, irrigate, fertilize, spray, cultivate, and harvest row crops and tomatoes; moving equipment between employer’s field locations; grading field lanes; mowing roadsides and other farm yard areas; and tree removal as needed. Equipment that workers may be required to operate includes, but is not limited to, tractors with various implements, equipment that utilizes GPS and auto-guidance systems, sprayers, combines, sod harvesters, mowers, pickup trucks, and forklifts. Non-CDL farm trucks will be loaded with agricultural products and turf grass sod and driven on the farm, to storage facilities, market, processing facilities, and delivery locations. (US DOT FMCSA 49 CFR § 383.3 (h)) Receiving crop for drying and storage at grain storage facility; disposing of spoiled grain; transporting grain from fields to grain bins; loading and unloading grain into trucks while keeping grain level; operating augers and grain conveying equipment; monitoring grain moisture levels; preparing scale tickets; and shoveling grain. Manual duties include but are not limited to loading seed into planters; properly mixing chemicals; loading chemicals into sprayers; changing combine cutting heads; rouging fields and using hand tools to remove undesirable plant varieties, trash, and other objects from fields; performing general maintenance, repairs and/or clean-up of storage sheds, pivot points, buildings, and all farm equipment; ensuring operational areas are organized and well maintained; using hand tools and equipment to repair, clean and maintain farm vehicles, machinery and specialized machinery and agricultural equipment; regularly servicing equipment; and power washing equipment. There are few typical days and workers may be required to change duties and/or locations often and engage in various general functions. Daily duties may vary depending on crop, weather, sunlight, field conditions, etc. The employer reserves the right to increase workers' pay or provide bonuses based on tenure, performance, or other factors that are solely based on the discretion of the employer.
