Jobs offered are working on a diversified crop farm handling both manual and mechanized tasks. Crops/Commodities: Hops, rye, barley, corn, pumpkins. Workers will perform a variety of duties related to the production of hops as well as other general farmwork. Planting, cultivating, irrigating, fertilizing, and harvesting crops. Weeding, trellising, pruning, and maintaining hop yards or fields. Maintain/repair trellises; replace hop poles and install new poles on new ground; fix/replace/install wire; clean out/dig/tamp post holes; ensure poles are vertically straight and tamped into place; drive/operate equipment to install wire and poles; stretch cable and attach clamps; haul torn out hop poles or trellis. Duties related to hop harvest will include the following: walk the fields, cut vines with a machete, remove cones by hand and load harvested cones into bins or bags. Care must be taken to avoid damaging cones and to preserve quality product. Unload product in preparation for drying/baling. Workers will work in fields, performing manual and machine tasks associated with rye, barley, corn, and pumpkin crop production, including but not limited to: Mow, cut, bushhog, and weed fields. Perform ditching, shoveling, hoeing, hauling, ground preparation, and other manual tasks. Repetitive bending, stooping and kneeling required. Use hand tools including but not limited to hoes, shovels, shears, clippers, loppers, and saws. Lift, carry, and load/unload products or supplies. Use power equipment including but not limited to: tractors, planters, mowers, tillers, chain saws, high lifts, skid loaders, ATVs/ UTVs. Dig and maintain ditches. Install drip irrigation equipment in fields. Inspect, monitor, and maintain system daily. Clear debris from field and clean/maintain farm, farm buildings, structures, equipment, and work areas. Mow grass and operate trimmer around farm buildings. Assist with farm building/field maintenance and repairs. Repair fences and trellises. Work is done in the field for long periods of time. Workers may assist in handling product weighing up to 60 pounds and lifting to a height of 5 feet. Workers will operate agricultural equipment, drive tractors, and operate designated towed machines (such as seeders, mowers, rakes, and trailers) to plant, cultivate, and harvest crops. Must operate agricultural equipment safely, with or without direction. Load and unload crops and farm materials. Workers must work on their feet in bent positions for long periods of time. Work requires repetitive movements and extensive walking, standing, bending, stooping, and reaching. Work required in fields when plants are wet with dew and rain, and may be required during light rain, snow, moderate winds, direct sun, high humidity and extreme temperatures. Temperatures in fields during working hours can range from 10 to over 100 degrees F. Workers may be required to work during occasional showers not severe enough to stop field operations. Must wear assigned personal protective equipment with required. Must report for work wearing work clothes and boots or other durable footwear.
