Family owned and operated corn and soybean farm in Central Iowa. We store all grain on our farm in our own grain bins. We need seasonal labor to prepare fields for planting in March and then assist with planting in April to June. Employees will then need to assist with preparing for harvest and complete routine repairs and maintenance on equipment and farm. We start our harvest in the fall and it runs until the end of November/early December. Employees will then need to clean and put equipment away for the winter. Job duties will include: prepare fields for planting, attach farm implements such as plows, discs, sprayers, or harvesters to tractors, using bolts and hand tools, operate tractors, operate other farm equipment, manipulate controls to set, activate, and adjust mechanisms on machinery, observe and listen to machinery operation to detect equipment malfunctions, attach equipment extensions or accessories, drive pickup trucks to haul crops, supplies, and tools. During and after harvest employees will need to operate a farm truck to haul crops from the field to storage locations. Employee will also need to do basic skid loader work, rock picking, tree brush clean up and other farm related duties. Be able to drive a manual semi with farm plates. Need to have an Iowa drivers license or be able to get one. Must have experience driving 400hp+ tractors and 60' wide implements. Has to speak English well, read and write English. Need 3 years of all above tasks experience The employer, at its sole discretion, may grant pay increases based on factors such as performance, longevity, and/or experience. Employer may also, at its sole discretion, offer performance-based incentive bonuses that are not guaranteed and are determined by the employer. Workers returning for a consecutive season will be paid at the previous season’s rate if that rate exceeds the current published rate.
