- Offer description:
Harvest Citrus: Be able to move, place and go up and down on picking ladders and harvest citrus without damaging fruit, filling picking bags and loading into bins or harvest goats (small, open vehicle). Move around the field from tree to tree in possible weather extremes. Responsibilities include planting, cultivating, and harvesting citrus groves, as well as cleaning up by removing sprouts, debris, weeds, and vines. Workers will also repair irrigation systems, maintain operational structures and equipment, and fix fences. Other duties include mowing and weeding groves, as well as performing ditching, shoveling, hoeing, hauling, and other manual labor. Workers will utilize hand tools like hoes, shovels, shears, clippers, loppers, and saws, along with power equipment such as forklifts, tractors, planters, mowers, plows, sprayers, cultivators, power shears, chainsaws, and skid loaders. Drive and control specialized equipment such as tractors, trucks, pruning machines, and skid steers to perform hedging, topping, and skirting of citrus trees. Manipulate controls to activate, adjust, and optimize cutting mechanisms for precise tree canopy management. Safe operation of agricultural equipment is required, with or without supervision. Workers who possess a valid driver’s license and meet all applicable legal requirements, including holding a doctor’s certificate as required by 29 CFR § 500.105, may be asked to drive vehicles for transporting workers on company business. This task is voluntary, compensable, and not a mandatory job duty. Workers without a valid driver’s license or doctor’s certificate will still be fully eligible for employment and are not disqualified from any other job responsibilities outlined in this application. The employer can and will make alternative arrangements for the transportation of workers should the need arise. Sanitation Requirements: For food and general personal safety purposes, all workers will be required and expected to follow common sanitary and GAP practices at all times. This is particularly critical when hand harvesting crops for human consumption. Employees are required to cleanse their hands by washing them thoroughly with soap and water after using the bathroom and before entering fields or for harvest activities of the packing facility for packing operations.
