Manually plant, cultivate, and harvest fruits and viticultural specialties. Use hand tools, such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, and knives. Duties may include tilling soil, mulching and applying fertilizers; planting, transplanting, weeding, trimming, leaf pulling, shoot thinning, or pruning crops; harvesting products; or cleaning, grading, and loading harvested products. May construct and repair trellises, repair fences and farm buildings, or participate in irrigation activities. May assist with cleaning and sanitizing processing equipment. The employer, at no cost, will provide worker with any tools or equipment necessary to perform required tasks. Worker will harvest crops according to size, shape and degree of maturity. Crop will be placed into field containers. All work must be performed carefully according to instructions to avoid damage or harm to crops. Must be able to work outdoors in dusty and dirty conditions, in extremes of heat and cold and in inclement weather. Must be able to crouch, bend, and sit on the ground, and lift and carry items weighing up to 75 pounds. Must be able to listen to, understand and follow simple instructions of field leaders and supervisor. This job does not require experience, but prefernce will be given to applicants that can provide at least two months of verifiable prior experience. The employer will comply with re-entry restrictions applicable to pesticides and other chemicals used in the fields. Workers may not report for work while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The possession or use of illegal drugs or alcohol (exception is made for moderate alcohol consumption in company housing during non-working hours) on company property is prohibited and will be cause for termination. Applicants must be able to furnish verifiable job reference(s) or comparable third-party documentation from recent employer(s) establishing acceptable prior experience, if applicable. Pay rate, raises and/or bonuses, greater than the wage rate listed, may be offered to any seasonal worker employed pursuant to this job order, at the company's sole discretion, based on individual factors including work performance, skill, and tenure. Employer retains the right to discharge an obviously unqualified worker, malingerer or recalcitrant worker who is physically able but does not demonstrate the willingness to perform the work necessary for the employer to grow a premium quality product, violates employer’s work rules (provided to workers prior to commencement of work) or for any other lawful reason. All terms and conditions of the job order will apply equally to all workers, both U.S. and H-2A workers, employed in the occupation described in this clearance order.
