Duties may include: Workers will plant, transplant, hoe, weed, irrigate, thin, prune, cultivate and harvest fruit, vegetable, flower and field crops. Tasks include soil preparation, bed shaping, fertilizing, monitoring crop health and identifying pests, diseases or moisture issues. Workers may install, move and maintain irrigation systems including drip lines and sprinklers, and may install, repair or remove plastic mulch, row cover and trellising. Workers may assist with planting and maintaining cover crops and performing crop-specific duties such as staking, tying, training vines, thinning blossoms and hand-pollinating where applicable. Workers may assist in greenhouse or high-tunnel operations including planting, watering, pruning, ventilating, temperature adjustments and general cleaning. Workers may operate basic farm equipment such as tractors, mowers, tillers, cultivators, skid steers and similar machinery. Workers will perform routine cleaning and light maintenance on tools, equipment and farm vehicles as directed. Workers may operate farm trucks or regular vehicles to transport crops, tools, equipment, agricultural supplies or workers on the farm. Workers may drive to pick up agricultural supplies such as seed, fertilizer, packaging materials, livestock feed, irrigation components or other items directly related to the farm’s agricultural operations. Workers may deliver the employer’s agricultural products to markets or wholesale customers as directed. All driving duties will be limited to tasks connected to agricultural production. Workers will harvest, sort, grade, wash, pack and prepare crops for storage, delivery and sale. Tasks include maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of packing areas, tools and equipment. Workers may operate simple packing or processing equipment and will assist with post-harvest cleanup. Workers may handle farm waste, crop residue, recycling or debris to maintain clean and safe farm facilities. Workers may assist in preparing value-added products derived from crops grown on the farm, such as roasting peppers or cooking corn-based items like kettle corn. Tasks will remain limited to processing that is directly tied to the employer’s own agricultural production. Workers may package these products for sale in accordance with agricultural practices. Workers may apply agricultural chemicals such as pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers to the employer’s crops as directed. Workers must follow all safety rules; use required protective equipment and comply with applicable Worker Protection Standard requirements. Workers may assist with mixing or loading chemicals only after receiving proper training. Workers will perform general farm maintenance including repair of fences, trellises, farm buildings, farm vehicles and farm equipment. Workers may assist in constructing or repairing small farm structures such as sheds for livestock, equipment storage or crop-related use. Construction tasks will be limited to routine, on-farm structures that support agricultural operations. Grounds work may include mowing, trimming and clearing debris. Workers may assist with composting or manure handling where applicable. Workers may load and unload trucks, stock displays and assist with setup and breakdown at farmers markets. Workers may assist in the employer’s farm store (or farm stand), including stocking products, maintaining cleanliness and providing basic customer service related to the farm’s own agricultural products. Workers may deliver products to markets or wholesale customers as needed. Workers may monitor fields for pests, weeds, diseases, nutrient issues or irrigation needs and report concerns to supervisors. Workers may feed, water and monitor livestock, clean pens or shelters, assist with bedding and move animals between pastures or enclosures. See Addendum C for additional duties.
