As an agricultural equipment operator, workers will assist with two main tasks: to support the drilling of new farm irrigation wells, along with maintenance and repair of established farm irrigation wells. In preparation, workers will start each day at the farm shop loading necessary equipment and supplies onto their trucks for travel to predetermined farms in the local and surrounding counties. They will drive trucks to haul tools, supplies or farm workers. During the drilling aspect of this job workers will: travel to farmer's drill site, unload equipment, set up the drilling equipment, haul water in a 4000 gallon tank to well site, connect drill pipe while drilling is in progress, remove drill pipe, install well casing and disassemble drilling equipment. When working on irrigation well maintenance and repair portion of job, the employees will: inspect gearheads and change their oil, check for pump vibration and cavitation, remove pipe and pumps from wells, transport and install irrigation pipes, pumps, motors, control boxes and whatever else is mechanically required so that the farmer can get water to his/her crops. Record parts removed from inventory, time spent, and any other billable details; help to maintain operational records. Experience with water well drilling equipment, such as winches and pump hoists, heavy farm equipment such as backhoes and tractors, and hand tools, e.g. air wrenches, cutting torches and welders, is useful. Clear brush and weeds by mower, weed eater, or sling-blade to access all pumps and wells, as well as company owned property. Maintenance and repair of all company owned mechanical equipment. All tools, equipment and supplies will be provided by employer at no cost. Any tasks derived from a Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) other than the SOC designated in this job order are strictly incidental in nature, performed only on an occasional basis, and constitute less than the majority of the contractual period, and shall not be construed as reflective of the primary occupation for which certification is sought.
