- Offer description:
We are seeking a dedicated individual to assist with the production of dryland and irrigated corn, soybeans, and alfalfa, as well as provide support in the seasonal care and management of a cow/calf livestock operation during the calving season. The position involves a variety of seasonal tasks, including field preparation for planting, such as tillage and fertilization, from February to March. The worker will operate and maintain farm equipment like tractors, planters, sprayers, and irrigation systems throughout the growing season, assisting with planting, weeding, spraying, fertilizing, and harvesting crops from April to November. Responsibilities also include the application of pesticides and herbicides to control pests and diseases, along with irrigation system operation and maintenance from June to September. The worker will help with the harvest of crops in the fall, ensuring crops are gathered and transported as needed. In addition to crop production, the position involves supporting the cow/calf operation during the following seasonal timeframes. In February, the worker will assist with the transportation of cows to pens for calving. During calving season (March to April), they will help feed and manage the cattle, assist with calving, and ensure the herd’s health. Following calving, the worker will assist with transporting cattle to grass pastures and maintaining the herd throughout the summer months (May to October). Weekly checks on the cattle, including providing minerals and salt, will be required. From September to November, temporary fences will be built around crop fields for winter grazing, and the worker will assist in sorting and transporting calves to market while managing cows on the harvested crop fields for grazing. Additional duties will include routine maintenance and repairs of farm equipment, irrigation systems, and infrastructure. The worker will also be responsible for feeding, watering, and monitoring livestock health, as well as assisting with breeding, including artificial insemination and providing birth assistance. Veterinary care and the maintenance of livestock health will also be part of the role. The worker will help with building and repairing fences and perform other manual labor tasks as needed. The position’s workload will vary depending on the seasonal needs of the crops and livestock, with peak activity during planting, harvest, and calving seasons. Employer may, at its sole discretion, provide pay increases based on longevity or experience. Employer may also, at its sole discretion, offer performance-based incentive bonuses that are not guaranteed and are determined by the employer.
