We operate a grain farm where we raise corn, beans and rye. We also have some cattle. We need seasonal employees to assist with our crop production season. Job duties will include: prepare fields for planting, attach farm implements such as plows, discs, sprayers, or harvesters to tractors, using bolts and hand tools, operate tractors, planters, seed drills, manure spreaders, irrigation equipment, operate other farm equipment, engage in planting, weeding, spraying and/or harvesting activities, fertilize, dust, and spray crops, install, maintain and repair pivot irrigation systems, load and unload crops or materials, manually or using conveyors, forklifts, or transfer augers, load hoppers, containers, or conveyors to feed machines with products, using forklifts, transfer augers, suction gates, shovels, or pitchforks, manipulate controls to set, activate, and adjust mechanisms on machinery, observe and listen to machinery operation to detect equipment malfunctions, operate equipment to harvest crops, complete maintenance and repairs on irrigation equipment, record agricultural data, drive farm trucks to haul crops. Employees will also need to assist with birthing and deliveries of calves during our calving season from March until May. During this confinement period, employees will need to check and care for cows and calves until they are released to pastures in the May. Employees will also need to assist with cleaning equipment, farm grounds and complete routine repairs and maintenance on equipment and farm buildings. The employer, at its sole discretion, may grant pay increases based on factors such as performance, longevity, and/or experience. Workers returning for a consecutive season will be paid $19.00/hr if that rate exceeds the current published rate.
